"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted" - Matthew 5:4
Mara'J Boutique was founded in October 2019, shortly after owners Renard and Renita Roan lost their daughter, Kali Roan, in July 2019. During her time of grief, Renita thought about her daughter everyday and looked all over to find support to help her overcome such a tough time. Unfortunately, pregnancy and infant loss is often not mentioned and discussed. Feeling alone, Renita wanted to find a way to reach out to others in order to say, "You are not in this by yourself!". The only problem was that she didn’t know how. One day Renita received a visit from her mother and sister. They entered the room in silence with a small plant and seconds later they stated, “It’s not much, but we didn’t know what to get you.”. It was at that moment that Renita questioned, what do you give someone that is grieving? That is when the simple thought of a memorial bracelet came to mind. Now our bracelets can be for anyone who has experienced a loss whether it be the loss of a parent, grandparent, a child, or even a close friend. However, our company does focus on pregnancy and infant loss awareness. We created these memorial bracelets to achieve three goals.
1) To be the perfect gift to provide "comfort" to those who have experienced a loss
2) To be a symbol of "remembrance" to provide close family and friends surrounding the loss
3) To become a "support" tool and to help raise awareness in our communities and organizations about pregnancy and infant loss
What makes our bracelets different from the rest is that, each bracelet is handcrafted and unique. No two bracelets are the same. We chose to make our bracelets individualized, so that each bracelet is assigned to one owner. The Black Velvet Angel Bracelets and the bangles (not customized bangles) are the only options excluded. All other bracelets have their own bead style using various bead colors, bead shapes and bead sizes. We chose this approach because we know that everyone's experience with a loss is different. The cause of the loss is different, our reactions to the loss is different, and how we cope with the loss is different. Therefore, just as our experiences differ, so will your memorial bracelet. We are opening new doors and building new ways to support others. We are all brothers and sisters and one thing we share is that our angels are watching over us and we will all be together again one day!
The great thing about Mara'J is that our business has expanded so greatly that our gifts can now be purchased for every occasion. We have created Mother's Day gifts to a graduation bacelet for a recent grad. We want to put a smile on everyone's face!
