Background

Mara'J Boutique was founded in October 2019, shortly after owners Renard and Renita Roan lost their daughter, Kali Roan, in July 2019. During her time of grief, Renita thought about her daughter everyday and looked all over to find support to help her overcome such a tough time. Unfortunately, pregnancy and infant loss is often not mentioned and discussed. Feeling alone, Renita wanted to find a way to reach out to others in order to say, "You are not in this by yourself!". The only problem was that she didn’t know how. One day Renita received a visit from her mother and sister. They entered the room in silence with a small plant and seconds later they stated, “It’s not much, but we didn’t know what to get you.”. It was at that moment that Renita questioned, what do you give someone that is grieving? That is when the simple thought of a memorial gift came to mind. We created these products to achieve three goals.

1) To be the perfect gift to provide "comfort" to those who have experienced a loss or needs a push a faith

2) To be a symbol of "remembrance" to provide close family and friends surrounding the loss

3) To become a "support" tool and to help raise awareness in our communities and organizations about pregnancy and infant loss

 

Mara'J Today

The great thing about Mara'J is that our business has expanded so greatly that our gifts can now be purchased for every occasion. We have created Mother's Day gifts to a graduation bracelet for a recent grad. We want to put a smile on everyone's face! We have expanded to not only memorial bracelets, but to faith based apparel and customized greeting cards.
